now i know that in some cases replays don't carry over from patch to patch but this was after i had already patched this morning. For example, if you played a game on 7.11, you’ll be able to watch that Replay until 7.12 drops. All you have to do is set your clock back to a date/time when the character wasnt expired. Replays last for the length of a patch cycle, meaning they’ll expire once you patch up. A workaround for this exist, but it relies on using old versions of the game client and you will not find every version of the client for download.

Yeh you read it right, reactivate your expired characters on bnet. The problem many LoL player face is that you cannot easily watch old replays in newer version of the client.
